Sleepless in Seattle (1993) Review

It’s a cold and miserable Saturday night. The heat pump is ripping away right behind me and it feels pretty damn good, but, perhaps I need more warmth. Of course, I have nothing better to do than watch the backdrop of Seattle and New York integrate to tell a story of predictable feel-good romance between Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan. For the most part, this is a good one, however tripe it can be; it just so succeeds with getting away with it.

Sleepless in Seattle doesn’t try to be the next classic rom-com, it isn’t quite When Harry Met Sally; in fact, it doesn’t really spark the notion it was trying to come close it when its originality is rather thrown out the window. Somewhat both a satire and textbook take on the classic genre, it ticks nearly all the boxes for a seemingly relishable watch. Sweet, upbeat, and impossible to shun, Sleepless in Seattle is perfectly fine. Yeah, Hanks and Ryan are pretty cute.
